South Coast Fencing are a well-established fencing business based in Winchester, suppling and fitting fencing and gates throughout the Hampshire area for both residential and commercial customers and we are looking for an experienced and friendly fencer to join our busy team.

Key requirements:

• Experience as a fencer, 2 years minimum within a fencing environment
• Valid UK Driving licence and transport to and from our site just outside Winchester (essential)

We would like a fencer who is:

• Reliable, responsible and punctual
• Have a good attitude to work and attention to detail
• Like to be part of a hard working team
• Equally competent to work on their own

About the Position

We will offer a highly competitive salary depending upon experience and the chance to be part of a thriving friendly busy team.

This an employed position with 20 days annual holiday plus bank holidays and company pension scheme.

• Pay: Up to £40,000.00 per year

Ho Ho Ho! Christmas is drawing in quickly and here at South Coast Fencing Ltd once again we’re selling Christmas trees this year.

For the best quality, we’re only stocking the famous Nordmann Firs (Abies Nordmanniana), which are arguably the UK’s most popular seasonal trees due to their fuller shape, soft branches, amazing scent, and their famed ability to retain their needles the longest.

The trees have been grown locally in Hampshire by a long-standing family business, and are excellent quality. Please have a look at the images below which are from the producers. These will give you an excellent idea of their shape and body.

Like last year, they’ll sell quickly, so come and see us at our yard just outside Winchester and picks yours from Friday 21st November to get your Christmas tree ahead of the crowd.

We also stock Christmas tree stands, with prices starting from £20 including VAT.

Finally, if it helps, we can deliver your Christmas tree to you near Winchester, for a small fee. Please ask us for a quote.

IMPORTANT: Cut Christmas Tree Care Instructions

If you want your Christmas tree to retain the same freshness as the day it was cut, we recommend that your tree is kept outside in the fresh air for as long as possible before being moved inside.

Half an inch (1cm) should be carefully cut off the bottom of the stem before placing it into a water-filled Christmas tree stand. Try to treat your tree in the same way as fresh flowers, as it will dry out more quickly if it cannot draw up moisture.

Also, when placing your tree indoors, it’s important to understand that trees that are not watered and or stood in a hot environment close to a fireplace or radiator are likely to dry out more quickly.

Directors Update

It has been a busy few months across the summer for South Coast Fencing. We have been undertaking many domestic and commercial contracts alongside our busy sales team selling to the trade and public.

Our manufacturing team have been tirelessly working to keep up with all the gate and fencing orders for both the sales team and the contracting side.

Just to give a brief overview of their work a total of 87 bespoke gates inclusive of 6 sets of hardwood gates, and alongside many hundreds of standard close board gates, over 1500 panels have been produced in the course of the last two months. Our workshop staff are the backbone of the company and without them, our customers would not get the goods. So we thank them for their continued hard work.

We are just about to start preparing the process for stocking our yard with Christmas trees again this year so please look out over the next couple of weeks for a notice about these and for when they go on sale. We look forward to seeing customers returning from last year and hopefully new customers for this year.

South Coast Fencing now has TikTok and we often are posting videos on that platform check us out and have a look.

We have recently started to look at installing cat protection in gardens if you would like to discuss this, please give our Contracts team a call or send us an email.

Directors Update

Just a quick update from us today, largely due to the fact that as the weather has been so lovely, that us and all our staff have been working very hard over recent weeks doing many automated gate projects – it’s clearly gate season..!

See below for pictures and a couple of videos of the craftsmanship that we produce at South Coast Fencing.  Everything you see is hand crafted by us to the customer’s unique requirements and site.

We manufacture the gates from the raw product and skilfully created these beautiful swan-necked gates ready for automation for our wonderful customers.

The timber we use for the gates is Iroko and Opepe for the posts as we feel both complement each other in colour and are two of the most reliable hardwood timbers on the market.

Whilst they are not the cheapest options, they are certainly the best. From our in-house gate makers, to our highly skilled installers and our very own in-house gate automation electricians, we do it all and our aftercare is second to none.

Directors Update

The last few months have been very busy. The contracts team have been undertaking lots of domestic work alongside commercial contracts overseen by Dan our Contracts Manager. Dan is also South Coasts Estimator and he is the chap that comes out and visits your home or site and will give you a in depth and comprehensive assessment of the work required and tailor the quote to your needs. Dan has over 15 years experience in the fencing industry most of which installing the fencing and his knowledge is second to none. He will be happy to help you in anyway he can.

The office staff have been very busy managing the work loads of the sales team and our busy workshop which is producing lots of gates, fence panels and trellis on a daily basis for the public, trade and our contracts customers.

We have recently employed two new fencers and have been lucky to find them which means our contracts team is now fully staffed and ploughing through work at a steady pace. If you require any fencing, gates, decking or anything else relating to garden services let us know how we can help you.

Just a quick update to say we’re delighted to welcome Simon Durkin to the South Coast Fencing team where he joins us as our full-time in-house accountant.

Simon has 35 years experience in accountancy services, having gained a massive amount of knowledge from his work with a broad range of local companies.
